Evans Transportation Services, Inc. got its start in 1985 in a small office above a carpet shop in Hartland, Wisconsin. Running on hustle and heart, it didn’t take long for Evans’ founders, Marty Johnson and Charlie Keepman, to create a customer experience so personalized that one of their regular brokerage customers asked to sign on for a complete outsourced transportation management partnership.

Marty and Charlie realized they’d need more sophisticated tools than their pencils and papers to support the needs of this shipper and other shippers like them. So, they coded their own transportation management system (TMS), one of the industry’s first.
Pairing custom technology with their trademark provision of customer service, Marty and Charlie knew they were onto something special with Evans. So, they sold their other transportation businesses to focus on what they had always done (and still do) best: strategic transportation management.

Now, Evans is led by Ryan Keepman, President and our executive leadership team. Ryan’s hunger for growth is fresh, but his dedication to Evans’ Guiding Principles of Integrity, Positivity, Passion, Communication, and Trust is steadfast.

Evans 2.0 is launched, consisting of the Evans Integration Hub, the Evans Rating System, and a reimagined Freight Pay & Audit Platform. According to CEO Ryan Keepman, “Evans 2.0 was designed from the ground up to provide a new level of value, transparency, and usability, propelling the logistics industry into the new decade – for both vendors and customers.”

After years of rolling with the same, recognizable brand, Evans decides to freshen things up. No longer confused for being a company called “E-vans” (do they have vans? do they have electric vans?), the company jumps into the 21st century with a sleek, modern, and sharp new look.
In January of 2022, Evans Transportation signed a sponsorship deal with pro golfer Kevin Kisner. Called a “best-in-class” marriage in the press, both parties felt it was a near-perfect combination of brand personalities. “We can’t think of a better representative partner,” said Ryan Keepman, CEO of Evans Transportation. “The decision was simple. Like Kevin’s career and personality, our brands are real, genuine, and also focused on giving back.”

John Conrad, who was previously chief commercial officer, now serves as the company’s chief revenue officer. Phil Wenzell was promoted from senior vice president to chief network officer. With the promotion of Conrad, Charles Miller now serves as the company’s chief commercial officer.
