Evans + Truckstop.com: Improving Carrier Relationships for Greater Customer Satisfaction

As a strategic 3PL, relationships are at the core of everything we do. Truckstop.com, logistics industry innovator and top Evans partner, understands this, building technology that bridges the gap between shippers, carriers, and 3PLs.

For the past 10 years, we’ve leveraged Truckstop.com’s load board to find the right carrier for our customers’ shipments, carrier onboarding system to qualify and set up new drivers, and rate analysis tool to ensure we’re offering our customers competitive rates while rewarding our drivers’ performance with industry-appropriate compensation.

In 2018, Truckstop.com presented us with a unique opportunity to improve our carrier payment process: Truckstop Pay (formerly LoadPay). Truckstop Pay is an FDIC-insured carrier payment platform that drives efficiencies for shippers and 3PLs, improves security for all parties involved, and gets carriers paid accurately, fast.

Since implementing Truckstop Pay in August of 2018, we’ve been able to automate 85% of our carrier payment system, freeing up 15-20 hours of accounting resources per week. We’ve enjoyed improved carrier relationships driven by swift, seamless communications, new, carrier-centric offerings, reduced errors, and therefore, disputes, and an improved on-time carrier payment average.

How Truckstop Pay Works

  • Carriers submit their proof of delivery (POD) and any other applicable documentation to us
  • We approve carriers’ invoices and schedule their payments in Truckstop Pay
  • The carrier receives a notification of payment approval and the scheduled payment date is set up automatically
  • On the specified date, the assigned funds are transferred into the carriers account automatically

While the above advantages would have been enough to improve carrier satisfaction, Truckstop.com pushed their Truckstop Pay innovation further with a mobile app and a quick pay feature. Truckstop Pay’s mobile app enables drivers to manage their payments easily when away from their computers while the platform’s quick pay option allows drivers to elect to receive their payments faster.

“We’re always looking for ways to drive efficiencies and strengthen relationships via technology. Truckstop.com's Truckstop Pay was an option that would very clearly improve the Evans Experience for all parties involved. Its implementation was painless, our ROI was immediate, and our carriers and team love it. It has been a relief to be able to focus on strategic improvements instead of getting tied up by tedious and inefficient manual processes.” -Zach O’Haver, Evans’ Director of Accounting

Bottom Line

Strong carrier relationships are essential to our customers’ satisfaction. Truckstop Pay drives that initiative with its intuitive interface and carrier-centric offerings. But it’s an efficiency hack for us, as well. With secure, automated payments and communications, the time we used to have to dedicate to manual processes is now dedicated to solving for our customer.
