‘Tis the Season to Give Back at Evans

The Evans Team

31 December 2020

Happy New Year from Team Evans! We wanted to share with you how we finished 2020 strong with our “Giving Back” program.

Along with the natural disaster relief and our involvement in the Ugandan Water Project earlier this year, we are also proud to support local Wisconsin charities to reach those who have fallen on difficult times. Through multiple organizations and causes, we were able to assist a number of families with our employee-matched donation totaling more than $2200.

The Giving Tree

Rich Reese learned of a local organization called The Giving Tree.  We were able to help fulfill close to 130 wishes!

The Giving Tree is a program rooted in supporting the students and families within our own school community. For the past five years, we have had the privilege of witnessing firsthand how students, parents, staff members, and community members come together to care for our families! Trees are set up, gifts are purchased, money is raised, wrapping paper is donated, wrapping parties ensue, and deliveries are made. Together this all equals a bright holiday season for our families!

The goal of The Giving Tree is to support the whole family. A wish list for every child in the home and includes 6 items: 2 Wants (toys, electronics, etc.) 2 Needs (clothing, necessities, etc.), and 2 Reads (books, magazines, etc.). Each participating family also receives a food basket with items to help prepare a holiday meal. Additionally, we try to provide each family with a $25 gift card to Pick n Save, Target, or Walmart to help with the holidays and/or the extra cost associated with their child(ren) not being in school for the extended holiday break.

As wish lists are fulfilled and/or donations are made, we organize the gifts and go shopping, if needed! It has been such a wonderful experience to share with one another as we work together towards meeting the needs of our students and families. We then get to deliver gifts to our families. This is, without a doubt, the most meaningful part of this program as it allows us the opportunity to develop connections with our families that we hope extend well past the holidays.

Kelsey Townsend

Brett Bauer was able to put us in touch with a family that has seriously been affected by Covid-19. The mother contracted COVID-19 while pregnant and had an emergency delivery. While the baby is healthy, the mother is still in intensive care and in a coma. For every day she is in the coma/hospital it is 7 days of recovery. If she pulls through, it will be a long road ahead. They have a total of 4 children.

Waukesha Food Pantry

We were able to donate 348 lbs. of food to the Waukesha Food Pantry! That is roughly 250 meals we were able to help provide this holiday season.  If you’d like more information on the pantry, please click here.

Again, a big THANK YOU to Team Evans, who made all of this possible, and we hope that our donations made a difference at the end of what was a challenging year. Here’s to health and happiness in the New Year! Cheers!
